Riding through the countryside
The dark was all around
Only light seen in the sky
was glimmering stars and moon.
The half-lit face the moon did show
lay nestled up high,
On duty like the sentry guards
watching from their posts.
Many stars like costly gems
all spread out in the heavens,
So far away and yet in sight
where one expects to find them.
With stars in space by grand design
from ages upon ages.
The clear night skies will testify
of creation's maker.
How vast the vault and just like God,
The heavens are mysterious;
Revealing things in some detail
Where all may see and learn.
Darkness brings peace,
And rest that we must see.
Great is God in His handiwork
The night skies call us on.
